Red Eyes
Red eyes
Eye or eyelid redness is often temporary, caused by irritated blood vessels. Symptoms can include itching, burning, puffiness, or mild vision changes. Avoid rubbing your eyes and pause contact lens use until it improves.
When red eyes may be an emergency?
Red eyes are usually not a sign of a serious condition. However, if you experience the following symptoms, you should seek medical attention immediately:
- Sudden loss of vision
- Intense eye pain
- Headaches accompanied by visual changes
- Chemical exposure or trauma to the eyes
Common causes of red eyes
While fatigue and screen exposure may result in occasional redness, persistent or recurring symptoms could indicate an eye condition requiring medical care.

Allergic Conjunctivitis
Environmental allergens such as pollen, dust mites, or pet dander may cause the eyes to become red, watery, and itchy. Antihistamine eye drops can help manage allergic responses.

Avoid using makeup or contact lenses during active inflammation unless advised otherwise. Treatment for red eyes depends on the underlying cause.
